HEC Zomeravondlopen

About the race

The HEC Zomeravondlopen are a summer series run by the athletics club Spiridon, named after title sponsor HardloopExpertCentrum: four consecutive Thursday evenings during the summer holidays, each with a different route through the Dorst forestry. The loops carry their own names — Vijf Eiken, Hei, Beum and Bokkenweide — and hover around eight kilometres, ranging from a little over seven to just above eight. Each evening starts at eight o'clock. The setup is deliberately low-key: there are no kilometre markers along the route and the emphasis falls on the pleasure of running together in the woods rather than on chasing times. That makes the Zomeravondlopen above all a fixed summer appointment for runners from Rijen and the surrounding area.
