The Grand Trail des Lacs & Châteaux Winter Edition is a technical trail race starting from the Ovifat ski slope, on the edge of the High Fens. The winter edition spreads six distances across a full weekend: 80, 66 and 23 kilometres on Saturday, 52, 38 and 16 kilometres on Sunday, with climbing that ranges from a little over six hundred metres to almost three thousand. Every distance earns UTMB Index points. The course commits fully to unpaved ground and variety: valleys, strips of forest, open moorland and passages past lakes and castles. The organisers stress self-sufficiency between aid stations, so beyond fitness this trail mainly demands attention to surface, rhythm and climbing.
