Dwars door Bekegem is an annual village run on 21 July in Bekegem, organised by Molenlopers Bekegem in cooperation with the municipality of Ichtegem. The programme combines youth distances, a short 3.75 km jog and performance runs over 7.5 km and 11.2 km. Start and finish are at De Kouter, with courses running through the rural surroundings of Bekegem. The race is small-scale and accessible, while still having a clear structure with separate start times, selected distances and podium ceremonies. A striking local detail is the round of cheese for participants in the 7.5 km and 11.2 km races, making the event not only sporting but also distinctly village-like and memorable.
