De 5 van Bavel coincides with the Bavel village fair, and that explains why a village race draws well over thirteen hundred participants here: it runs through a village that is already out on the street that day. Start and finish are in the Kloosterstraat by 't Karrewiel, in the middle of the village, and the course is closed to traffic. There are two competition distances of 5 and 10 kilometres and a kidsrun split into two groups: 500 metres up to and including eight years, 1000 metres from nine. Race numbers are collected at 't Klooster on the Jack van Gilsplein. The prize-giving follows immediately, so you need not hang about long to hear how it ended.
