Bosloop Malden has been going since 1978 and is one of the smaller classics of the Dutch running season. The course runs through the Heumensoord woods and over the Mulderskop: forest, sandy paths and enough height difference to make it considerably tougher than a flat road race. There is a choice of 5, 10 and 15 kilometres, each with its own minimum age, plus a 2-kilometre youth race and a Bambinoloop for three- to eight-year-olds in two separate starting groups and without timing. Because the race falls two weeks before the Zevenheuvelenloop, many runners use it to test their form. Entry is only possible in advance and each distance has a cap, so anyone wanting to take part is better off signing up early.
