The Cross Biathlon de Lesve is run at Lesve, near Profondeville, and is not an ordinary cross-country race but a biathlon: running over unpaved terrain interspersed with shooting. That makes it a contest of two opposing skills — you have to go hard enough to gain time, yet arrive at the range able to bring your breathing back under control. The 5 and the 10 kilometres set off together at ten, so the difference lies mainly in how often you have to make that switch. Children have a Kids Run of their own. The whole thing stays small and local, which makes a biathlon approachable for anyone who knows the sport only from television.
