Bevrijdingsloop Nijkerk

About the race

Bevrijdingsloop Nijkerk is a night-time relay run built around the Liberation Flame. A group of runners leaves Wageningen during the night of 4 to 5 May and carries the flame back to the municipality of Nijkerk in stages, passing places such as Hoevelaken and Nijkerkerveen. The route is about 70 km and is about teamwork as much as distance: runners take turns, supported by cyclists and a support vehicle, and run with a clear commemorative purpose. Oranjevereniging Nijkerk provides transport, food, drinks and first aid, giving the event the feel of a strongly supported local remembrance run.
