The Alphense Bergen Trail is a trail run in the woodland between Alphen and Chaam, around the pool known as Het Zand. The course winds along forest paths and single track through pine and deciduous woods with patches of heath in between, and includes many short climbs — those height differences are exactly what earned the area the nickname Alphense Bergen, the Alphen mountains. There are four distances: 8.8, 12, 18.7 and 24 kilometres, so seasoned trail runners and road runners taking their first step onto unpaved ground both have somewhere to go. The start is in the centre of the village of Alphen, in the triangle between Breda, Tilburg and Baarle-Nassau. The organisers deliberately keep it small, with small starting groups and a limited number of places. The trail is part of the Brabantse Trailserie.
