The Airborne Freedom Run commemorates the Battle of Arnhem of September 1944 and leads past the places where it was fought. On the road there are 5 and 10 kilometres; alongside them lie four trails of 21, 28, 44 and 60 kilometres through the landscape of the Airborne Region. Those trails are experience runs without timing and without a classification — you run at your own pace, which suits the character of the day. Several distances set off from historically loaded places such as the Ginkelse Heide, where the drop took place in 1944, and finish in Arnhem itself. There are also separate starts for children, companies, students, and military personnel and veterans.
