The Triathlon du KAP is the cross triathlon of Louvain-la-Neuve, set up by KAP Course, a student project of UCLouvain. The swim is not in open water but in the Blocry pool, after which the field heads into the surroundings of the university town: first on the mountain bike over unpaved paths and then on foot. That makes it a different race from a road triathlon — steering, climbing and bike handling weigh more heavily here than pure speed, and the transitions are correspondingly messier. It is a compact race with a couple of hundred entrants, carried by students, and that shows in the atmosphere. It falls in April every year.
